Oh how I hate that word!

It makes me cringe every time I see it.

I don't dislike that word that much. As far as the "fresher" shows some respect, good will and effort, there is nothing wrong about been a fresher.

I specially hate n00bs. n00bs is a online gaming word misused. It comes from the word "newbie" that means fresher. But when a newbie is lazy, arrogant and doesn't show any effort to improve his skill, he becames a n00b.

I love freshers, you can learn a lot of things from them. I hate n00bs, nobody will learn a shit because them, and they think you have born to serve their needs.

i get to work with a number of freshers. but we call them graduates where i work.

they are very helpful, eager, enthusiastic and want to learn from people they work with. they gain valuable experience on projects, but can't drink properly - which surprises me for former students! lol

Actually, I think the emphasis in colleges in the US on responsible drinking have greatly reduced the new "freshers" ability to hold their alcohol. I've notice more and more younger folks that are really wiped out after just one or two drinks.

Was this an acquired skill I gained in college without ever knowing it?

Yes it was scaring - the 550 French franc speeding fine I got that is, but that's another story.

Yes I did suffer some trauma associated with Freshers.

I don't mind "freshers" as such. I got some of them in my teams previously, and some of them did very well.

But I hate when this word sits next to "SAP Certified" phrase. In this case, the person becomes very arrogant, crying and demanding why (Oh, why!) companies sell their trainings and certifications where there is no space on SAP market already. They even blame SAP AG itself for this practice.
Very common practice on LinkedIn, unfortunately.
I especially mean people from sub-continent.

In my opinion, Pepper Spray is underutilized as an effective tool for scope control
