Split from Top 10 Colleges - why would you threadjack this topic for your request?

Actually he has a very good point Snowy.

Why don't we just delete all topics in the Jobs forum that are over 6 months old? Maybe 9 months?

Should save server space and any job ad that is over 9 months old is most likely irrelevant. Can't the admin set up a regular job to do that?

I'd delete this guys ad since he specifically asked. Can't remember getting other requests to do this. So until it becomes an issue, why not?

Precedence. If we follow one request published in GD, many more might follow. What argument to use then?

Also, many of the old posts are irrelevant by now, seing that there are no releases 2.2 - 4.0B out there anymore. Should we delete those posts also because people might try and use advice a decade old? This is a board. Public. Anybody posting here and giving personal information should be aware of (it's called consequences!!!!) before hitting "submit".

Well Fish you bring up a good point. But I would say that the non-technical forums VS. the technical forums are inherently different. I'm not looking at this as setting a precedent but more so as to what is best for the site. So while I can understand not wanting to delete a single post, maybe we should have a process of getting rid of older posts.

While there can be a lot of value in the older posts in the technical forums, I'm not sure I see much value in the older posts in the non-technical areas. (with maybe the GD forum being an exception!).

I would think deleting some of these old posts might just be considered good housekeeping. (not that I have personally ever been accused of good housekeeping!). Saves server space and all those other good benefits that come from removing dead files from a system.

Just thought.

It took sapfans 5 years to implement a phpbb mod to ban spammers.

don<T hold your breath on getting something to clean-up job posting forum!
