Issues with the new SDN?

Post by Craig » Mon Mar 12, 2012 7:50 am

Has anybody else been trying to use SDN since they redid there pages?

It's almost unusable in the state I see it. SAPFans could pick up significant users if SAP doesn't fix them up soon.

I think we lost a two months of topics in the QM forum.
The speed is terrible
I keep getting checked out.
I can't sort the discussion sessions
I can't make a posting.

It was news to me that a new sdn has been rolled out - On reading Craigs post I went there and tried to log in. The first page said - confirm your user name. It proposed a user name I do not remember using on the site, although my email id and first name last name were correct. I tried changing the user name to my S user id, tried changing it to something I preferred, and I also tried after leaving it alone - In all cases the page just remained as it was and I was not able to proceed further. Looks like I am locked out of sdn till further notice.

I tried to register again - It logged me in and told me the user id I was using is already in use. So I went pack to home page - I became a "guest" again.

Must be something to do with the fourth dimension.

It's probably because it's "powered" by their portal. It's as flakey as hell

I tried it... a slow redirection from SDN to SCN, and after Login, I'm stuck in a "choose your username" form... the submit button does nothing. And it seems if I don't submit a username I cannot go further and end the Login process.

I guess I'm a little bit ahead of the rest of you.

It actually recognizes my log in and logs me in automatically.

But each time I come up with a server error... which is almost after everything I try to do.... it logs me out to guest. I then have to click on Logon again and it logs me in automatically again. Not that being logged in seems to help me with anything!!!

Right now it looks like a disater to me. Should be interesting to see how long it takes them to resolve it. But unlesss the speed picks up significantly, it will be unusable.

I've been able to log in there, but they assigned me a crappy username. The bloody site is broken, or it seems. And they changed the SDN to a farcebook-like site: soon it will be populated with crappy polls and posts like "I'm pooing in the train".

Update 2 - I tried to get in using Firefox - defult setting on this browser for me is "Private Browsing". Was able to get in to the first attempt by entering my s-user id and password. Maybe I need to delete the certificate from IE and try again.
Once I got in, it took me about 5 minutes to find the HCM forum.

Spent a few minutes there - looks like there are some posts, but the look and feel is radically different - Maybe need some time to get used to it - but mainly because it is not in the format I am used to viz.. a list of questions which I can click and go into to view the thread, I was not able to make much headway so far.

Maybe it is all for the good. IT had become a very quick sdn routine in the past few days - log in, check HCM, wince, check coffee corner, check suggestions and comments, read the 3 new posts and log out. Now there is a bit more time wasting potential.

I'm sure you're one of a kind Baz!!!! :P

If this was a go-live at an SAP customer who actually sells or ships something, there would be all hell breaking loose about now.

This does't look good for SAP.

Hi,

all known issues at SCN are documented at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-24192

it might take a few minutes to get to that page, but it eventually shows up.

Hi SDN/SCN fans... yep, as you can see this is our new beta launch of the SAP Community Network. Thank you for raising these issues, and we appreciate your enthusiasm and patience as we work through the problems. A note regarding performance, as many of you alluded to, the system is not performing well, but I can say that the problem has been identified, and we are all working on getting it fixed ASAP. The other issue regarding SSO is linked to the performance issue and will be resolved once the system has stabilized.
