Adverts on SAPFANS

Post by os » Fri Aug 26, 2011 11:33 am

The google adds for upgrades and BI stuff no longer bother me, but today I noticed adverts to meet women in my area?!?!

How does google ads know that I am lesbian and what is this ad doing here in the first place?

I kid you not, under one of Brysons posts a little while back was an advert for Russian Brides.

Yoy can get rid of the adverts by downloading an xml file containig a list of ad sites and then loading this into your inprivate filter. If you're interested let me know and I'll dig up the relevant URL's and post full instructions.

That is some targeted marketing. Did the add contain the word vagina?
In my opinion, Pepper Spray is underutilized as an effective tool for scope control

I'm not sure Rich, these days the adverts are more entertaining than the posts

I added the sites to my hosts file pointing to 127.0.0.1. Just another option.
Good luck!

Chrome doesn't block as well as Firefox does. I'm a bit tired of Chrome, although I continue using it after some memory issues with ff.

If I cannot change my hosts file, how can I get rid of that pest?
