Christmas gift ideas...

Post by Dr Sidewalk » Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:37 pm

Yep, it's that time of the year again, and I have no idea what to get the wife, again. If I ask her she might hint at something small, like perfume, but never lets on what she really wants. So, I was wondering what you guys are planning on getting the wife and kids for Christmas. All ideas are greatly appreciated, as I have none at the moment.

I tell I lie, my oldest son wants a laptop and the youngest wants a PS3 (in his bedroom), so that just leaves my youngest daugter (4yo) and the wife (? yo), Oh yeah, and the other girlfriend.
Just kidding darling, if you're reading this. ;) Best to be safe than sorry. ;);)

Right I'm off, I have a two hour jouney home.

A Pandora Bracelet.

After you've bought that there will be a steady drain on your income as she buys charms throughout the year.

Then when next Christmas comes you can always say:

"But darling poochy-poo of mine - I have been buying you Christmas presents all through the year so you don't need any this year"

Then that leaves you some money for a laptop, an Xbox with Kinect, and enough dolls to fill your daughters bedroom.

Bad idea??

o.k., here goes, then:

The Lesotho Promise, a 223.35-carat necklace, is made up of 26 white D-flawless diamonds, the most valuable on the grading system. All 26 were extracted from the 15th largest rough diamond ever found, a 603-carat stone discovered in a mine in Lesotho, South Africa, last year.

Graff displayed the Lesotho Promise at the palatial Salle d’Empire at the Hôtel de Paris here, which was filled with other rare gems, including The Flame, a 100-carat pear-shaped D-flawless diamond, along with an array of Graff’s multicolored diamonds and emeralds.

The Promise is the culmination of 18 months of painstaking work in the company’s diamond-cutting facility in Antwerp, Belgium, a process Graff is retelling in a documentary and a book.

Too clunky. You need something more refined:

Rich,

Funny that you should mention the Pandora bracelet as she sort of made a hint at one last night. She's been helping a friend out who owns a Jewelers, just during the Christmas period. Anyway, the short of it is that she can get 30 to 40% off products as staff discount, so she can definately have one. ;)

But I know what you mean, those little trinkette add-ons are not cheap. It's basically a modern charm bracelet, with a different name. I would neve have thought to see those things fashionable again.

On the subject of the lovely necklaces being shown. I've been a permie for most of this year, so I'm not made of money.

Niggardly, are you???

The Lesotho Promise is only around $50 million. Your wife should be worth at least that much!

@Rich: doesn't work. No emerald.

Funny that, the first thing I looked for was a necklace of graded hyderabadi pearls, with Kashmir emeralds and indian gold links with matching earrings and bracelet but I couldn't a picture of one

Kashmir emerald? Do you mean Kashmir-blue?

Image

It's a sapphire. An artificial one on top. But the colour is beautiful *sigh* Could go well with pearls.

But nothing beats an emerald:

Nope.

I mean Kashmir Emeralds.

Hyderabad is famous for it's pearls.
Kashmir is famous for it's emeralds.

And Indian gold is the soft glowing 22-24 carat stuff that looks the biz!

Hmm... Who knew fish had such expensive tastes. Here I thought a few lbs of algae or krill and she'd be happy!
