Query - Field Attributes in Query Painter

When I go into the query painter (Basic List option when creating a query), the individual field attributes are not displayed in the bottom left corner when I select a field i.e. where the system dislays the field name and whether you want to attach the UoM or Currency for the field etc. It just displays it as blank (white)
It is machine specific as other users can see it on their machines, even if I use my SAP logon.

I've had various issues on my machine re. Active X controls which caused problems in the HTML-type displays such as this e.g. table join facility in Queries, but they've been resolved so I'ma bit stumped as what to do.

Any ideas would be welcome.
