Inbound idoc to update custom fields

Hi All,

we need to add a custom tab in our outbound delivery. This custom tab has various details like, shipment no, customs port no etc (total 20 fields ).

Now the information in the above custom 20 fields will be filled by an inbound idoc from the logistics provider. my questions are as follows :-

1) do we need to use inbound DESADV idoc from our logistics provider to update the custom fields in outbound delivery ?

2 a ) if answer to 1 above is yes, which standard function module to use in the idoc or do we have to use a Z function module. Additonally pls also inform which standard function module is used with inbound DESADV to update outbound delivery in case we do not want to use custom segments !(just for knowledge )

2b) If answer to 1 above is no, then what is to be done to meet our requirement ?

3) I think we need to develop segments for updating the custom fields. If this is the case, can one use the same standard message type DESADV
