Portal connections to to backend ICM

Postby DougyC » Mon Feb 06, 2012 8:54 am

Hi all,

Can any of you tell me if when the portal starts an application that connects to a back end R/3 ICM does it hand communications over to the browser ie. does the browsers start communicating directly with the back end system or (as I suspect) does all communication go through the portal?

Or to put it another way if there is a firewall between user and R/3 would all portal apps still work.

I'm only concerned with ESS/MSS webdynpro apps.

many thanks

I would be interested if anyone has any comments on this.

We have just patched a dual stack BI 7 system with BI portal running on Java stack and have lost connection to it on some sites because it has now started using port 8002 (ICM) where before it only used 50200 (HTTP portal) and the firewall has blocked it.

Craig.
