Retail Industrie: SAP POS vs FICA

Post by serico » Fri May 09, 2008 12:36 pm

Hi all,

I've been doing some research, in order to clarify which are the alternatives when it comes to retail industries. So far, I am completely unsure of how this things work, meaning the solution retail as a hole thing.... :(

On one hand, I found this SAP POS product (bumped into this article, which describes a recent -successfully- implementation http://news.thomasnet.com/companystory/809671).

On the other, a friend of mine told me about FICA. From what I have understood, this is not exactly SAP R/3, but it is supposed to be able to work with SAP R/3 fully integrated.

Any clarification will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced,

Sebastian. serico@yahoo.com

ps: In the customer i am currently working, SAP R/3 is being implemented, but in the point of sales there is a 3rd party software that interfaces with SAP (through idocs).

SAP POS is nothing but Triversity which SAP bought, Kenneth Cole is an example where Triversity links back to SAP Retail with XI in between.

Triversity is an established POS software.
