BI - New Installation or a copy ??

We are currently using our BI system to store historical CRM information, we however have decommissioned the CRM system and the data is not required unless its an ebergency. We also have some HR reports that have been developed over the years.

We now have the opportunity of either copying everything over, not my choice as we have a load of data that we may no longer require or a new installation. So the questions are ...

1. What is the best way of exporting the CRM data and how could we then report on it ???
2. Will the reports still work if just transport them to our new system
