BW Change Log Deleting Old Entries

Post by ZKD » Mon Oct 21, 2002 1:41 pm

Hello
We are currently using BW Release 2.0B and our BW ODS Change log is growing very rapidly. Has anyone on this release any suggestions strategies for deleting or archiving the change log and if there are any repurcussions on the exisitng data or subsequent deltas into the ODS?

Thanks
Andy

Deleting Change Logs

Hi!

Don't remove the change log entries as long as they are needed, with respect as long as the delta queue is alive. Don't delete brute force.

We do, what you want to do, sometimes on hube Cubes in order to try a rebuild. Delete Cube entries if possible don't remove the dimension's data and then execute a new Initial loading. Hopfully the cube can be reloaded without any problem. Rebuild the ODS Table with SE 14.

If the Cube has Gigabytes of data make sure that the rollback segments are huge enough.

Otherwise you will be in serious troubles.

We use BW 2.0B

Me, I personally would like to know if this situation can be treated more efficient in BW 3.0

Ciao
Mike
