a question about email of sapscript/smartform

Postby kfchengkf » Wed Jul 15, 2009 4:23 am

Hi everyone,
In scot -> smtp -> Fax/Internet(supported address types) -> SapScript/Smart forms setting, it can be selected as PDF.
I just wonder when and how this setting will be used ? Can I "email" a smart form "directly" and let this setting do
the PDF conversion ? I saw many tutorials/examples that first convert the smart form to a pdf and then attaches
the pdf to an email. I wonder if this is the simplest way to do it ? On the other hand, I have no idea how to
email a smart form "directly" (of course populated with data). Any comments or examples will be greatly
apprepricated. Thanks!
Regards,
Kelvin

Yes. In output determination for example, you configure your output program and form for the output type, then set the output type to '5'. When you view the e-mail in SCOT, you simply see the OTF output from the spool, but the actual external e-mail sent has the output as a PDF attachment because SAP converts it automatically.

Hi BradB,
Can you explain a bit more how to set the output type to "5". I am new to SAP...
I can see output types named "ZAOD", "ZAOF", "ZARE", etc only.
Thanks.

Then look up 'output determination' or 'message determination' in the help files. You'll find the answer there.
