Skip a page in Duplex Smartforms

Postby new2sapfans » Mon Jun 15, 2009 6:22 am

Hi All,

I have designed a smartform that does duplex printing - the Terms and Conditions are printed on the back.
While this works great for medium 1 (printout), the email and fax generated from the same output type have the T&C as an alternate page.
Obviously this is very annoying.

Also, the command node for triggerring a forceful skip to page, cannot be put into any window other than the MAIN :-(
(any obviously my T&C page does not have a MAIN window)
So I cannot trigger a next page from T&C page depending on the medium.

Any ideas on disabling of T&C page (and still not affecting page numbers) would be highly appreciated.

I'd sort out a different SMARTFORM if the output medium is not of the correct type personally - should be easy enough to copy your existing form and amend appropriately.

Yes, a copy of the smartform to a SIMPLEX (instead of a DUPLEX) version is always a clean way out.
I was wondering if something "cool" was possible which could help me skip a page based on NAST medium.

I tried to put in a call to function module SSFCOMP_SET_NEXT_PAGE, but it gave out an error,
and asked me to contact SAP hotline !
It seems smartforms just won't put in a programmatic page break in a non-MAIN window :-(

In terms of the page flow, I presume you have something along the lines of:

FIRST --> TERMS --> NEXT --> TERMS --> NEXT ...

Try the following:

Define 2 new pages called FIRST_EMAIL and NEXT_EMAIL. Copy and paste all of the windows from FIRST and NEXT into these.

In the Initialization event, modify the field CONTROL_PARAMETERS-STARTPAGE (depending on the output medium) to be either FIRST or FIRST_EMAIL.

You now only have to maintain one smartform, and by copying and pasting the windows it means that any changes made will apply to both versions of the output.

Thank You SIR !!!
This is a really great solution... I was just regretting having to maintain changes in multiple smartforms.

Aside from the extra workload, at some point in the future your smartforms would definitely become inconsistent. I can't think of any situation where I've had to mainain more than one version of the same object - there's always a way around it!
