Transfer data by a FTP command or Remote FM

Post by silly » Fri Sep 25, 2015 8:43 am

Dear all,
I need an adice from you
I have to transfer an internal table ( related to sales order ) to another application . Is not request to have a syncronize update

My first proposal was to daily download data into a flat file and store it on a server; the other application has to bring the file, import and elaborate it

but an alternative is also to create a remote function module that is call by the external application; for this last solution do you see any disadvantage ? maybe in case of thousand records transfer

Thanks a lot

With a remote function call, you'll need a SAP user/password, and access to the SAP server from the application.
A file on a server only needs to be accessible by the SAP server and the consuming application, there's no need of a direct connection between the application and the SAP server.

which format does the other application know? does it run on a database?

It might be worthwhile to connect SAP to that external database and transfer your data directly into a database table of that external system.
