SE16N: How to set up "Dynamic date range"

Postby MikeOttawa » Wed Sep 03, 2014 5:24 pm

G'day,

New user to SAP / VIM

I wish to execute in background a variant of table /opt/vim_1log from transaction SE16N.

I also wish to auto populate the "Actual Start Date" to be the "first day of previous month"

Reason for doing so: We are running the transaction in background mode on a scheduled 'once a month'.
The report output is sent to an SAP FTP server where the client simply has to obtain a copy of the report without logging into SAP.

However the ONLY stumbling block is to establish dynamic date range.
Dynamic date range is possible with other transactions but not with SE16N.

Any assistance / guidance appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike, Ottawa, Canada

These are not standard selection screen variants, I don't think you can do dynamic date calculation there.
These variants are stored in tables SE16N_LT and SE16N_LTD.

You could try using SE16, that has standard selection screen and varaiants, but this selection screen is generated each time someone changes the fields used for selection, so you could lose selections if someone removes the field from the screen.

You could also have a custom program as a first step of the job that modifies this date value in the variant (in table SE16N_LTD) before the SE16N execution.

Of course, you could also have a custom program to do the whole job...
