Error: Dispatcher running but message server unreachable

Postby venkatyalla » Mon Jan 26, 2004 9:33 am

Hi,

Recently the system administrators made some changes to DNS Server on the network.

From then on when i open SAPMMC console on win2k server.

The process list shows Msg server.exe message server running is in gren color.

But says Disp+work.exe dispatcher is Running but message server unreachable. and this is in yellow color.

I am able to connect using SAPGUI fine.
and able to run all transactions fine.

Can anyone tell what is this error?

Hostname, ip address dns entries looks fine.

Please advice.

Regards,
Venkat Yalla.

i dont think its the dns problem.. unless the network guys really put in the wrong dns entries..

back to the problem, i think its some memory parameter, esp those ipcs/*
also check files with the latest timestamp

Hi,

I can see anythinq in this log, but...you can find an error in dev_* files?, i hope that there is some error if your ms is down, or any service don't connect with him.

In otherwise you can try to clean your ipcs how yls says.

Marcos.

Hi,

I have only one Application server.
So this is my message server name.

This is given in default profile also.

Hostname:SAPDEV

I/P Address:192.168.111.121

hosts file:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

Venkatyalla,

Replace the line in hosts:

192.168.111.121 SAPDEV SAPTRANSHOST

with:

192.168.111.121 sapdev SAPDEV SAPTRANSHOST

Also, reconfirm the environments for the user that starts instance. In the SAPMMC log there should be some kind of an error. You don't see anything in syslog?
