hi all!

there is a drop in the database buffer hit ratio constantly which i viewed thru the tcode al02 .Can any one give me the idea why the hit ratio is dropping and how to overcome the problem.

How much was it before it started dropping and how much is it now?

There are variety of reasons for bad hit ratios. New transactions are being run fetching rare data (such as monthly, quaterly, yearly reports).

Badly formed ABAP SQL statements which are resulting in full table scans and not using indexes.

After a cold backup, the hit ratios give an inaccurate picture.

Hit ratios can also drop by improper execution plans (in Oracle). I suggest you create Optimizer Statistics on tables and indexes. From DB13, shedule a Check Optimizer job followed by Analyze Tab job.
