BI 7.4 System Copy Dual Stack

Morning All

I'm looking at doing a system copy of a BW 7.4 system on SQL 2008r2 from PRD to QAS.

The system is a dual stack ABAP/JAVA system.

My question is simply, do I have to export and import the java stack as well as performing a backup/restore of the BI PRD system, or can I leave out the Java part?

Regards

Paul

Hi,

backup and restore with Java stack is a bit complicated, but not impossible. I remember attending a conference back in 2009 which explained an unsupported way of doing this. I cannot find the documentation anymore...

This being said, I would restore ABAP_JAVA on QAS, then use SAPINST to export PROD's Java stack and run SAPINST on the new QAS system to re-install it.

Hi,

dualstack in 7.4?

I am in the middle of a dual-stack split project right now.
The consultant said it is mandatory before upgrading the BW system to 7.4.

Hi

sorry for trolling. Meanwhile I checked in current sapinst. 7.4 double-stack exists and can be copied... odd... maybe our consultant was not expert...

I have not copied 7.4 yet but according the steps it looks similar to 7.3 double-stack copy.

in 7.3 you do not need to export the java stack. It is moved with the DB copy.

The only important thing is the SecureStore KeyPhrase. if you do not know it then you should change it in source system and restart it BEFORE backup.
Other way there is no chance to make the copied java work.
