Upgrade of SAP NW 7.01 to NW 7.31 with SUM

Postby zedthesecond » Tue Apr 09, 2013 2:34 am

Hi!
Any hints for upgrade?

What is the technique to upgrade NW EP1 SAP Netweaver 7.0 to version EHP1 Netweaver 7.3, EP with SUMTOOL?
The environment is java stack only, as it is EP.
The project started with a copy from prod system and a sandbox was created to start the upgrade.
Now SUM tool stops with an error and warning in phase "Configuration". Warning is "you're trying to update component
sap.com/SAP_MSS from release 00.0 level 17.0 and provider "our DEV-instance" to release 630 SP level 1.0 provider SAP AG.
This update does not provide all the changes which are already contained in the deployed version."

The reason for error is, that SAP_MSS component has been under development and changed in DEV system.
Question is, how can I proceed using SUM, when upgrade to 630 release is not possible.
SUM gives several options to continue, eg "ignore error" or "go to next phase", but those require a password! From SAP?

Is "ignore error" the correct option and then later after finished upgrade deploy developed components with NWDS to sandbox?
When upgrading the dev system later, the error will occur again. Should development tracks be exported from DEV with NWDS
and later deployed again to new upgraded system? How to bypass SUM error correct?
Any simple answer to this upgrade problem?
