Very large DB copy. Statisctics needed?

Postby MistralLara » Fri Mar 22, 2013 8:00 pm

Dear all

Source system: Quality System. Solaris Oracle 9.2.0.4 SAP ECC 5.0. DB size: 4TB
Target system: Quality system for testing. Oracle 11g. AIX 7.1

I am doing system copy and I have a big doubt. Db has not updated statistics and I'm running db statisctics before R3schk during sapinst procedure. They have started 3 days ago!! and they don't finish for the moment. What is the correct procedure? Is it better cancelling the statistics? Are they really important in the copy procedure? Can I improve their performance? I have readen two notes about this question but I cannot understand them... (Note 554031 - Creating space statistics with BRCONNECT.pdf)

Could someone help me, with your experience, your ideas, your knowledge!!?

Please please, help me! I would like to know how to follow

Cheers and sorry for my english..

ML,

Yes, statistics are needed for R3load export & import. I did encounter long runtimes in a BW system years ago. This is especially true when you use brconnect "-f collect".

Following notes may help you:

upgrade and heterogeneous migration of a 4TB database ... nice task.

I do not know how much is 9i and 11g compatible ... have you tried to export the statistics from 9i and import into 11g? (if possible at all)
