CRM WebUI - can't stop the timeouts.....

Hi guys,

I've just completed an upgrade to CRM v7, with the new html interface.

The problem is users aren't happy with their sessions timing out after the default 30 minutes of inactivity. I'm trying to increase this to an "agreed" time of 3 hours (yeah, it seems too long to me but what can you do...).

I've ended up with these parameters set (we're using http not https):

rdisp/plugin_auto_logout=10800
icm/server_port_0=PROT=HTTP,PORT=8080,TIMEOUT=10800,PROCTIMEOUT=10800


...but still, after 30 minutes user sessions time out and I see this in the log:

R2  G HTTP/RFC session has been deleted following timeout


I've run out of parameters to set!

Can anyone suggest what I might have missed please?

Probably not relevant but environment is Red Hat 5 / Oracle 11g / IE8

I have no experience with CRM, but in the standard WEBGUI / ITS, it is possible to specify a timeout in the service parameters of each service individually in SICF. Maybe there is an equivalent for CRM?

I am not familiar with v7 of CRM.
But there should be a few more parameters.
For example wdisp/HTTP/context_timeout in case you are using a web dispatcher.

And did you already look at

Thanks for the suggestion - good point. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there are any time-outs set in the relevant SICF services.

Had just found that note after logging the call. Looks very useful. Unfortunately not found the answer in it yet, but there are quite a few references.

I've made some progress though.

I neglected to say (as I didn't realise it would be relevant) that users are logging in via a SAP Java Portal link. This provides single sign-on into CRM via an iView. I just bypassed that by logging directly into our CRM system with user & password, and it didn't time out after leaving it for 40 minutes. I don't really understand that as the portal seems to be handing over to CRM so I don't see how the launch method would make any difference....

Pretty much my fault! Had neglected to reboot after adding

rdisp/plugin_auto_logout=10800

Now I've done that all good.
