newtobasis. where to start with?

Post by sathyguy » Sun Jan 06, 2013 10:26 pm

Friends,

I would like to learn SAP basis of my own.
I have below specs in my notebook.
OS: win7 ultimate edition
hdd: 500 GB
RAM: 16 GB
processor: i7 2720qm

is my notebook specs are supported to install SAP?
if yes, can anybody give me the list of packages/softwares to be installed.
So that i can learn SAP basis of my own by learning thru documentation and thru the discussion forum like sapfans.

Note: Currently i am working as an oracle dba

thanks

i don't think that you can learn sap by yourself. you should take admission in a good institute to learn sap professionally.

sapfans members are here to help, not to offer personalize training.

We belive you should attend basic training before asking questions. I would highly recommend SAP course ADM100 as a starter.

as for installing SAP product, you want IDES or Netweaver trial?

I guess you can learn the first steps on your own and as Snowy pointed out install IDES, which is the full blown version of SAP.

The problem you might face is a general understanding of computing.

That's the tricky part and always depends on the problem on hand. i.e. transports and routes, patches, performance, database crap, security, communication, client copies, blah, blah.

Plus, if you don't waste a week trying to get something done, you are surely not right for the job :)

I burned my fingers, when we used SAP on iSeries. Trouble is, there are hardly any people out there knowing the system.

You sound pseudo-old.

iSeries is latest in IBM branding. During my days, it was called AS/400.
