Backup on shared disk

Post by pacopedro » Tue May 29, 2012 11:47 am

Hi all,
My SAP system is an ECC6 on Win/Oracle
and I want to make a backup on a shared disk of a remote server.
I try to configure the file inirSID.sap inserting
Backup_type = offline
backup_dev_type = disk
backup_root_dir = \\192.X.X.X\backup_SID

I have given full control to sidadm and SAPServiceSID users on the shared directory and on the drive F: of the remote server.

What can I do to solve the issue?

Best regards
Andrea.

we need error messages.

if using BRBACKUP from a command prompt, it will use SIDADM
from DB13, is will use SAPSserviceSID

make suere that both user has full control on the backup directory.

do not use shared drive letter, use UNC path names.

Hi,
the error message is
directory '\\192.X.X.X\backup_SID' not found.

I give full control on the backup directory for sidadm and SAPServiceSID users.
and I use UNC path names in the initSID.sap file

Backup_type = offline
backup_dev_type = disk
backup_root_dir = \\192.X.X.X\backup_SID

But i have the same error. It seems that it don't find the shared directory.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

so, you are saying you can access \\192.X.X.X\backup_SID with user SIDADM through Windows explorer?

Yes I can access \\192.X.X.X\backup_SID with user SIDADM through Windows explorer.
but brbackup can't find this path.

Do you know if this parameters below are correct in initSID.SAP file so I can make a backup offline on a shared disk?
Backup_type = offline
backup_dev_type = disk
backup_root_dir = \\192.X.X.X\backup_SID

Did you create (mount?) that shared folder after SAP has been started. I don't know, some things in Windows work in mysterious ways. Shut down SAP and restart it. Probably then sidadm will see that shared folder.

Disclaimer: I never understood how SAP & MS Windows work together.

are you running BRBACKUP from a command prompt or through DB13?

try first through command prompt with SIDADM.
