The import of the SPAM update has aborted at SPAM phase ADD_

Hi Basis Expert,


We are doing an HR upgrade .

Now we are in configuration phase and it is giving an error

"The import of the SPAM update has aborted at SPAM phase ADD_TO_BUFFER"

Also We have uncared the latest SPAM version and placed in /EPS/in. But when we are applying the SPAM status is stopped at 'ADD_TO_BUFFER" and throwing the error.

The SLOG says as follows

We even checked the permission at OS level and it is fine, also DIR_TRANS is ointing to correct path, also checked the transport tool/connection tests through from STMS everything is in green.

Thanks for your reply.

The owner is n5hadm and group is sapsys for /usr/sap/transhr/buffer/N5H with full permission.

Try these steps at OS level while logged in as sidadm

cd /usr/sap/transhr/buffer/N5H

ls -al
touch tomato123
ls -al tomato123 (note down the permissions and ownership)
rm tomato123

cd ..
touch tomato222
ls -al tomato222 (note down the permissions and ownership)
rm tomato222

If N5H is empty, rename N5H to say 'xyz' and run SPAM import again. The error message says, it is encountering a directory in buffer directory.

I use root:sapsys for /usr/sap/trans with permissions 770 where Common Transport Directory is involved spanning multiple Unix systems. This is due to UID & GIDs changing across Unix hosts and NFS creates problem.

Hi, N5H is a directory, it should be a file.

so, do this:

cd /usr/sap/transhr/buffer
mv N5H N5H.dir

then , try again.

Hi Snowy / Blueteeth,

This issue is resolved.

I deleted the SPAM version from SQL level and again uploaded the file in /EPS/in from the SAP leve->SPAM (000 client)->From application server.

Than Import SPAM/SAINT again. It went fine.
