Instance restore ends with warning

Post by nimo » Wed Feb 15, 2012 8:25 pm

Hi
I am trying to restore Oracle database using brtools. I am using TS< for storage. Also, both sidadm and orasid are members of sapsys and dba groups on the database server. The restore completes with warning for all control and data files:

BKI4000W: The attributes of file '/oracle/SID/origlogA/log_g13m1.dbf' cannot be restored. Reason: errno(1) Not owner

As sidad, I can change data files name with no issue. Any idea?

Check the attributes of the files you get the warning for.

Should be owned by ora<sid>:dba. Permission don't matter as much as long as it's at least 660.

Hi,

Check the ownership of files!
The brrestore has no setuid therefore the restore has to be run by ora<sid> user.
the restored files (sapdata, redulogs, control files) should be owned by ora<sid>.

Regards,
Zav

Thanks. It was the setuid for brtools. After correcting it, things were OK.
