SAP printer to call up Windows printer

Postby The Prince Of Darkness » Wed Mar 02, 2011 7:10 am

Dear BASIS friends,

Is it possible to define an SAP printer that calls up the Windows Printer/faxes dialogue box?

The challenge is to print to a USB label printer that is connected to a PC, but is not the default printer (so I don't think LOCL is an option). There are many of these individually connected to PC's. None of the PC's have a static IP address.

An acceptable compromise would be upon running the transaction (MIGO for interest), the user gets the Windows printer box (sorry, not sure what it's called officially, but you know what I mean hopefully), and has to select the stupid little USB label printer.

Any ideas?

on the PC, share this USB printer and print from SAP directly to it.

or, copy LOCL and change __DEFUALT to the printer name on the PC.

so, no need for a windows printer dialog box.

Also - as long as the "No Device Selection at Frontend" is not ticked (I hate double negatives) pressing <enter> at the SAP printer selection dialog (after entering LOCL or your equivalent) will cause a field to appear called "Windows printer" where you can select any printer installed on the frontend.
Good luck!

Can I use use both locally connected or even shared network devices?
