Group Assets Use?

Post by csponheimer » Fri May 18, 2012 12:18 pm

I am wondering if it is possible to have a group asset with multiple assets within it in different asset classes each with a different depreciation method and useful life and asset specs.

For example, if we want to have "GAS PLANT A" as the umbrella asset, but within it have 3 individual assets in different classes.

If it is possible to do this, how does this work in terms of reporting? does the group asset get report or the individual assets?

Can someone please help me understand the "group asset" function and uses?

Thank you!
Carla

When using Group Assets depreciation is calculated at the Group level - no individual asset depreciation. Assets are all in the same asset class.

You may want to look at Asset Super Number to use for reporting purposes.

Can you describe how these function and what their primary use is?

Google "SAP Asset Super Number" for a description.
