Write Offs

Postby sap4now » Wed Apr 11, 2007 12:56 pm

All,

What is the best way to configure Write-offs in FI. My company wants me to do a scenario on Write Offs and I am wondering where to start from.
I know that a GL account has to be created for the Write-off, but after that, i am not sure.

Thanks.

Could you be more specific? Write-off can be:
a) Scrapping of materials in MM module -> need to configure a movement type and account for it in trans. OBYC (but you would better ask in a different forum)
b) Scrapping of fixed assets in AA module -> similar activities in AA
c) Writeoff of bad debts -> two programs for calculation of provision for bad receivables in FI-AR (and manual writeoff if really lost)
??? any other ???

you can write off an item through F-30.
go to fb05/f-30 choose the customer, choose open items for that customer, click on the open item(activate it) that you want to write off and then press charge off the difference and then write it off to another account with a posting key 50 or 40 depending on whether it is a credit write off or debot write off... Hope this helps...

and yes you would need to create GL accounts for the write off to take place. If you want automatic writeoff then you can go to FBKP and assign the account number to the tax etc...
