ya, i faced the same situation as u. when u run saposcol, the archive directory status shows up. but when u stopped, the size of the archive directory also went off.

what is the implication then?

hmmm, so whether there is value in archive directory status in db12 is not totally dependent on saposcol running at all? Then, what is the deciding factor then? thanks

how about this sara tcode? it is used as archiving as well....

just want to clarify, does the saparch contains compressed offline redo log files? compressed is the keyword..

1) archive subsystem refers to software like ixos?

2) and ixos is used to archive the database.

3) and archive includes compression as well?

4) saparch directory only archives (compresses) the data?

i have this server sid SS, the saposcol is running by checking in unix. then i switch over to sap, and find that os06 gives values which is proof that saposcol is running, However, in db12, the archive directory size is not shown! so the understanding that saposcol collects the size of the archive d...
